Voice for the Voiceless

A pandemic disrupted the working of the whole world in 2021 when Covid 19 caused a worldwide lockdown. No more honks and loud noises, only deep silences. People got locked away from their homes in their houses in different cities. As they say, silence is followed by a storm. Only this time, the storm came from within people's minds.

People fell prey to mental illnesses such as anxiety and depression. And in time of need, those people found the perfect escape from their misery with the help of little furry friends. This led to an increase in the number of pet adoptions in lockdown.

However, when everything got back to normal, and the lockdown was lifted, people felt burdened by the responsibility of the pets who once brought them back to life. This resulted in a number of pet parents abandoning their pets after the lockdown was lifted.

India witnessed 50% pet parents abandoning the pets adopted during lockdown. As per reports, India has 80 million un-adopted pets.

However, this new year we take a pledge to stop it. Pets are not gifts or toys that we can used till we want to and discarded later. Pets need us as much as we need them and we should fulfill our responsibility towards them like they do.

So, let's come together and take a pledge. A pledge to adopt and care till the end.
